Covid-19 Next Steps

We don’t think that the best place to find the latest info on Coronavirus is next door, or social media, or the news.

A steady stream of reliable info is on the CDC’s website site.  You’ll find the latest announcements (there were 4 just today), what you need to know, how to prepare, and what your schools, houses of worship, and community businesses are going through.

We also find helpful info on NYS Department of Health’s website, but more from an ordinance standpoint.  NY State tells us where we stand locally and what to do next, but they make those decision in large part based on CDC recommendations.

We always say we don’t want to practice Krav Maga, we want to practice it perfectly… so if we apply that here, we don’t want info, we want great info.  For great info, look for a great source.

But we also all want to know what’s going to happen at KMNY, right?

We were asking ourselves the same question until we realized that’s the wrong question to ask.  The real question, for us anyway, and for right now, is what’s going to happen in the next 2 weeks.  What about April?

We stopped asking what’s going to happen in generally because the question has too many variables.  We’ll get lost in that question.  It would be like asking to learn 1 technique for every different kind of attack possible.  That’s a lot of attacks.  A lot of techniques.  No one can manage all those variables.

Krav Maga thinking is different.  It’s opposite.  We like 1 technique to cover as many variables as possible, this way we have less to get better at, and more reps to do it in.  Where applying that concept here.

And we’re focusing on what’s in front of us, not what may happen next.  We’ll deal with what happens next when we get there.   For now, we need a good foundation, one that will allow us to deal with the immediate need while positioning us for the next move.  I hope this makes a little bit of sense.

You can expect that through our Facebook page and other means we will engage our community (the public) and serve them well.  We get that people need activities.  We trust that they will enjoy our unique style.

You can expect that we will engage our members (both adults and kids) in much the same ways, but without some of the refrain - meaning, you know the basics, so we’re going to push you harder - and with our unique brand of Krav Maga love (a lot of you know what I mean by that).

The exercise text messages, emails or post that you’ve been seeing are only temporary.  In the next few days you’ll see a considerable shift toward more sustainable and interactive training alternatives.

We intend to deliver useful, fun, diverse and exiting content.  We’re also shooting for live classes, but admittedly we have a few kinks to work out.  All we ask is that you give us a chance.

A members only notice with some more details will be issued shortly.  Please stand by.

Respectfully,

Team Krav Maga New York
