Violence is part of the human experience.  It has existed for as long as we have and all civilizations engaged in it.  Violence prompted early man to fight wars, and to train for them.

Although evidence of martial arts can be found in murals and writings thousands of years old, its origin and progression is difficult to reconstruct.

But we do know that mock combat using swords, spears, shields, clubs, axes, etc. was as common among early man as unarmed combat practice.

We honed our combat skills by way of repeated training, and many civilizations throughout history have influenced this process in their own unique way.

The term Martial Arts refers to the various systems of training that have been codified over time for one purpose, to defeat an opponent.

Today, man and women alike participate in Martial Arts classes for sport, personal protection, or for enforcement applications, but the purpose remains the same… to win.
